Tuesday, March 23rd- I spent all day making sure everything was ready while my hubby went to work. Right when he got home and changed we loaded everything up and headed out. We wanted to take our jeep but we knew we wouldn't be able to fit everything (dog grate and all) into the back of it, so Sunday we searched craiglist and found this cargo carrier hitch for only $50. My father-in-law and brother-in-law were only a mile away from the person's house that Monday so they brought it down for us. As you can see, it gave us just enough extra room to fit everything!
After we got camp set up, and a fire going we pretty much just spent the rest of the evening relaxing. Within 10 minutes of our arrival, Jax got sap matted in his fur. Not happy for him, it pretty much ruined his trip. He also woke up freezing both mornings.
Here are some of the pics I took that night using slow shutter speeds and my handy dandy tripod.
Wednesday, March 24th- Didn't have a very good night. It was ultra cold. When we got up Kirk got the fire going. Then he started making breakfast. We had pancakes, bacon and eggs. Afterwards we sat by the fire for a while. I almost melted my shoes! We then decided to walk by the lake. Detroit Lake was formed when Detroit Dam was built. They had to do alot of clear cutting, and, from what I hear, they had to relocate the town. The Lake is really low this time of year so all their "floating docks" were no longer floating. We also saw a lot of the rements of the tree stumps that were left behind.

After we were done walking we drove into town to see if we could find some games. We forgot to bring some of our own. We found a deck of cards and dice at the gas station. When we got back to the campsite we ate lunch while playing the card game Golf. We roasted hot dogs over the fire for dinner. Had Banana Boats (split bananas with marshmallows and chocolate chips stuffed into them). Then we sat by the fire and played games like Yahtzee and War. While we were getting ready for bed I accidently burned my hand on the porpane lantern. But suprisingly it didn't hurt tooo badly.
That night it rained, but it was warmer than it was the first night. When we woke up we had cereal for breakfast then packed everything and headed home. It was a very successful camping trip!
